Epilogue
Izzy heard the purr of the Ferrari’s engine and her heart jumped. Shade was home. She quickly adjusted her breasts in the black lace bra, stepped into the jewel encrusted black satin Jimmy Choos and then artfully draped herself over the hood of the car.
Her very own Bugatti Grand Sport.
The heavy wooden garage door rumbled open to reveal remnants of the evening sun streaking across the sky. Being a hybrid certainly had its perks. No more drinking blood was wonderful. But even better was being able to walk in the sunlight again. Or in this case, lie in the puddle of warm sunshine spotlighting the hood of the gleaming black Bugatti.
She didn’t have to wait long before the Ferrari slowed to a stop in the courtyard. Finding his spot occupied, Shade cut the engine and got out.
He strode closer and removed his sunglasses. She didn’t miss the way he took in her pose and the sexy quirk of his eyebrows. “Hello, gorgeous.”
“Her name is Temptress,” she said and lovingly trailed the edge of her index finger across the spotless finish.
Shade threw his head back and laughed. “I love it.”
“And I love you.”
Stepping to the edge of the car he reached for her legs, spinning her, then pulling her closer. He braced a hand on either side of her hips and leaned in close. She loved the smell of him, woodsy, clean and masculine.
“I love you too.” He studied the bra for a moment. “And I love this scrap of lace.”
Her lips twitched. Who would have thought on that night nine months ago that a horrible car wreck would introduce her to the man of her dreams? Her luck with men had finally changed and she couldn’t get any luckier than Shade.
“I will buy a set in every color,” she promised.
“Marry me,” he whispered back and jerked his shirt off.
She walked her fingertips up his chest, breathless with anticipation, love, desire. Once upon a time she’d dreamt of hearing those words. Then she’d lost faith in finding her own prince charming.
Now, in the warm evening light of early summer, she lifted her lips to his and whispered, “I’m all in.”
