Find out what surprise Cherie has in store for Zach.
Chapter Seven
Zach adored the mischievous glimmer in Cherie’s eyes almost as much as he loved surprises. And when she promised surprises…well.
He settled their tab on the double and reached for her hand. She made him feel alive. Before her he’d been so out of sorts. Somehow, she grounded him even as she was igniting passion inside.
She pranced out the door, practically skipping toward his truck. The lone security light glinted off her hair as they wove their way through the rows of cars. Thunder boomed overhead and his heart skipped a beat. It’d been doing that a lot lately.
She let go of his hand to hop the fence that separated the paved lot from the dirt auxiliary parking. As he always did, he used the fence as an excuse to pick her up. After carefully setting her on the other side, he hopped over, and the sky opened up.
Cherie giggled. Toe to toe, with her hands pressed against his chest, she smiled wide, so full of youthful energy it made him ache. Her joy was infectious, which was perhaps the reason he couldn’t seem to get enough of her. He kept stealing it, soaking it in, letting her light change him.
“Come on,” he said, reaching for her hand again. They were already soaked but he didn’t want her to catch a chill.
He fumbled with the key fob as they approached, and the headlights flashed in the darkness.
As he reached for the passenger door, she tugged on his hand, spinning him back toward her. He barely had time to adjust his stance before she threw herself at him. Arms around his shoulders, belly to belly, she lifted her lips to his. The rain slicked their lips, easing the friction until their mouths were mating.
Zach spun Cherie around and grasped around for the door handle. A bolt of lightning lit the sky, charging the air with electricity. As much as he wanted to stay right where he was, exploring Cherie’s wet curves, he wanted to live to see tomorrow and the next day.
“In you go,” he said against her lips and then lifted her into the truck.
Thankfully she didn’t utter a protest, but she did look thoroughly kissed as he closed the door. He’d remember that image for the rest of his days. Darkness clinging to her as did the rain droplets. Gorgeous blonde hair, turned dark due to the rain, plastered to her lovely face. And those luminous blue eyes, all but glowing in the night.
He jogged around the front of the truck and hoisted himself behind the wheel. She was on him again. Kissing. Touching. Pulling at his clothing.
“I thought we were headed home,” he murmured between kisses.
“In. A. Bit,” she said, pressing her lips against his chest. Her cool fingertips dipped beneath the collar of his shirt, grazing his heated skin.
Zach was sure he was dreaming. He could pinch himself and that’d surely wake him up. Not that he wanted to. Not when…holy smokes.
Cherie’s gaze zeroed in on the buttons marching up the front of his shirt and then she reached for either side. With a quick jerk the buttons went flying and his chest was naked to her touch, her kiss, her tongue.
He swallowed hard and shifted his hips to give his cock more room inside the soaking wet jeans.
“Cherie,” he groaned as she nipped her way across his skin. “Home.”
His urging fell on deaf ears.
Oh hell…
Her tongue circled his navel and then licked a path along the waistband of his jeans. She was in dangerous territory now. He could only stand so much torment without blowing his top. He was human, not a robot.
“Cherie, honey…”
Was it the alcohol making her so bold? Whatever it was, he liked this side of her.
Except he didn’t want her to do anything she’d regret tomorrow and a quick fuck in a parking lot was surely on that list. Not to mention the cops were probably keeping an eye on the place in case a fight broke out and he sure didn’t want to get arrested.
He had to put a stop to this. Like right now. Okay, maybe a minute more…
